About You

Every living being strives to survive and thrive. You are doing that even now as you visit this website in your search for someone to help you, or to help someone you know, cope with whatever has brought you here. You want to be thriving, not just surviving.

If you are hurting, confused, troubled, anxious, alienated, terrified, doubtful of your self-worth, or uncertain as to your identity, then understanding is called for, and I can offer that to you.

Who I can help

Counselling for young people

School days are not always the best days. As a young person you might be struggling to cope with life. Handling school and all that entails might feel like the last thing you need right now. Home life might also be a source of difficulty for you, and who is there to talk to about that? You need someone who will listen and hear you out, help you to see a way out of your anxiety and stress, give you a time just for you, without judgement or criticism.

I work creatively with young people, allowing them to explore their worries, listening to their voices and opinions, and giving them a sense that problems can be overcome. Whether it is low self-esteem, self-harm, eating disorders, worries around parental divorce, general anxiety, or pressures due to social media, support from a counsellor can help.

Counselling for adults

Life gives us challenges and there are times when you might sense that you are no longer coping. It could be due to an event or
experience that has thrown you off balance, or a loss or change of some kind, such as a bereavement or redundancy, or even a realisation that nothing seems to be as it should.

You might be feeling alone, overwhelmed by stress, anxiety or depression, or simply stuck and unable to move forward in your life. You may have no one to talk to about your situation or you may feel that no one really listens to you.

These are situations where counselling helps. My focus will be to truly listen to you and get to understand the cause of your distress so that we can work together to improve your state of mind.

Anxiety

Counselling for anxiety

Your life itself may be causing you anxiety, or your anxiety may be making your life seem hard. Talking about your fears and worries and the physiological impact they have on you can help to alleviate some of the frightening symptoms of anxiety.

I have helped clients who experience agoraphobia, panic attacks and social anxiety. I use mindfulness techniques and insights from hypnotherapy to help clients learn how to soothe their mind and body.

Counselling for bereavement

Bereavement is one of the hardest experiences. It can throw you into depression and anxiety. You
may be feeling that you will never laugh again or ever again feel joy.

I can offer you the space to explore your grief and all that it brings up. I know from my own experience how it is to be bereaved and I have helped clients navigate their own grief with compassion and kindness.

Bereavement

Difficult relationships

You may be experiencing difficult relationships in your life, possibly at work or at school, or with family or friends.

Using the space I offer you to explore relationships and identify associated problems can help you to find solutions and to prioritise what is most important for your happiness.
